Visit a Florida Museum! Planetariums, History,Science and More!

Florida is rich in history and has lots of great science and art museums to visit. If you are new to the area or want to get a little more culture, check some of these out! Visiting museums are a great way to get out of the house and beat the heat while learning something too!
There are some great children's programs offered during the summer as well! Scroll down the page for educator's/field trip info.

MOAS

NEW Exhibit at MOAS, Planetarium,3D Solar System

A new exhibit to the Planetarium lobby at the Museum of Arts & Sciences opened on April 14, 2015, 3D Solar System: Stunning Anaglyph Images of Celestial Bodies. Grab a pair of 3D glasses and witness fascinating NASA images of Mars and various solar system bodies in the brand new Planetarium lobby. Captured by high resolution cameras, the collection of anaglyph red-cyan images are the result of numerous spacecraft and rovers that have explored far-off worlds. This exhibit is in collaboration with and sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a Florida Space Grant. This exhibit will run through summer 2015.

The MOAS Planetarium schedule has changed! The newest shows added to the weekly schedule include IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System, a show that allows you to join scientists who are investigating the zone between our Solar System and the rest of our galaxy. Exploring the challenges of space and science research, the show follows the creating of NASA’s Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX), and takes an in-depth look at the mission and how this spacecraft is collection high-speed atoms to create a map of our Solar System’s boundary. Another new show, perfect for our younger viewers, is called Legends of the Night Sky: Perseus and Andromeda. This show tells the story of an ancient Greek myth in full-dome animation. The exciting story brings together the warrior Perseus and Princess Andromeda and shows how these two characters are weaved into the night sky as famous constellations.

Free Wifi HotSpots in Daytona Beach

I downloaded a new app on my Android called InstaBridge.
I already used it and added the "Wendy's free Wifi"
@ the Wendy's location: 1959 S. Ridgewood Ave South Daytona, Fl

There are some great features with this app such as signal type and strength with graphs and maps with search function.

Also has a filter to search by key locations in the city such as cafe/restaurants or hotels.

Volusia's homeless weigh in on shelter needs with advocate's help

DAYTONA BEACH --

More than 20 homeless people got to speak their minds Wednesday evening in Daytona Beach about the issues they face.

Volusia County homeless advocate Pastor Mike, as he is known, is providing the homeless with transportation to and from city and county council meetings. On Wednesday, he drove them to a Daytona Beach Council meeting.

The homeless people who attended the meeting had about two minutes to talk to the commission about why they need a homeless shelter in the city. Pastor Mike has been a leader of the movement.

Right now, the homeless can receive shelter at the Salvation Army in Daytona Beach. The facility only has room for about 18 people and some people have to pay $10 a night.

“We just want the basics, the basics that is all we need. I mean we are sleeping out here on the sidewalks. We would be happy with a piece of carpet, as long as we don’t have the cops waking us up,” said Ronald Alford.

Stylin' Beach Cruiser

Daytona is known for custom hot rod cars and motorcycles but people also love other modes of transportation.

Check out this custom beach cruiser!

I don't know if this was a DIY project or what but I thought it was so cute and fashionable especially with the matching ensemble.

I wished I could have spoken to the woman but I was a stoplight and with my hubby at the time and he stops for nothing! hehe

I bet she gets a great workout while biking around the gorgeous Daytona Beach area from the peddling down the beach across the bridge and to all the downtown shops, I bet she can go to the farmer's market on Saturday filling up with fresh produce using her adorable front basket, and look totally amazing while doing it all!

I see a lot of bicycle riders around town and think it is wonderful that Daytona is very bike friendly with all it's bike lanes and bike racks located at virtually everywhere. Just recently I have seen multiple pawn shops with bikes for sale with deep clearance pricing. Also there are a couple of new/used bike sale and repair shops.

If visiting you may rent bikes and scooters by the hour/day and I know of one that even delivers!
